Baotou city -- in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- was officially rated as an international innovative standards city, after its status was confirmed by the national Standardization Administration recently, according to local media reports.

It was given a score of 113.2 points and that Baotou was only the second city to win the honor, following Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong province.

In 2017, Baotou city took the lead in achieving the status among prefecture-level cities across the country.

The awareness of the importance of standardization among companies had greatly increased in the city and the standards system in key areas has been gradually established and improved.

Baotou initiated and issued a batch of independent advanced standards. It completed the development of an innovation chain, industrial chain and standards chain in its aluminum processing, rare earth hydrogen storage materials and heavy commercial vehicles industries.

Moving forwards, Baotou will continue to implement its standardization strategy in a comprehensive and in-depth manner.

It will continue to innovate standardization work models and methods in response to actual market conditions and the needs of economic and social development and strive to promote high-quality economic development.
