A new energy vehicle (NEV) smart battery changing station was opened in Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Dec 15, according to Baotou Evening News.

With the smart battery changing station, the first of its kind in the city, it only takes 30 seconds for a car to change battery.

After coming to a stop, a lift under the wheels slowly raises the platform where the car is parked. The car is thus raised from the ground to a certain height.

A flat car then slides under from one side, holds the battery at the bottom of the car, removes it and pulls it back into the battery changing station.

On the other side, a flat car pulling the battery slides out, and the fully charged battery is automatically installed. The whole process takes just 30 seconds.

The battery changing robots equipped at the station can change batteries for more than 900 NEVs on a daily basis.

After having their battery changed, the NEVs can travel more than 300 kilometers.
