Excitement is building in the runup to the annual ice and snow cultural tourism season, which is set to open on Jan 6 in Baotou city -- in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- according to local media reports.

The event, which runs to Feb 28, will have six venues. The Huawu Renjian Scenic Area will be the main venue, with Baotou Olympic Sports Park, the Kunlun Ski Resort, Baotou Amusement Park, Nanhai Wetland Scenic Spot and Saikhantal Park as branch venues.

With a total investment of 7 million yuan ($1.07 million), the Huawu Renjian Scenic Area, which was opened last year, will have an ice and snow viewing area and play area covering more than 50,000 square meters. It is the only ice and snow venue in Baotou city specializing in ice and snow sculptures.

The price is 58 yuan ($8.89) for a single ticket for the ice and snow viewing and 100-meter snow slide, 98 yuan for a family package of two people and 118 yuan for three people.
