Baotou annual people's congress opens on Feb 22

The fourth session of the 15th Baotou Municipal People's Congress opened on Feb 22 in Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to local media reports.       

Zhang Rui, acting mayor of Baotou, delivered the government's annual work report, giving a brief overview of Baotou city's achievements in 2020, its economic and social development tasks during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), and its plans for 2021.

Zhang summarized the work of the past year in eight categories, including COVID-19 prevention and control, economic development, key projects construction, business environment enhancement, as well as improvements made to people's livelihoods and welfare.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan, besides continuing to boost development in social and economic growth, Baotou is expected to make strides in becoming a regional economic center, as well as a city recognized for its innovation and entrepreneurship.

Development goals have been set for Baotou. These include 7 percent growth in regional gross domestic product, 10 percent growth in fixed asset investment, 8 percent growth in total retail sales of consumer goods, and 6 percent growth in general public budget revenues.
