Updated: 2021-04-23

Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is to develop a national silicon-based new material technology innovation center, according to a forum held on April 8 which was attended by the city's science and technology bureau and TBEA Co.

At the forum, TBEA officials introduced their new energy research institution and announced the idea of establishing a national silicon-based new material technology innovation center.

Baotou's science and technology bureau gave a detailed introduction to the city’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), the construction of new materials and modern energy bases, the local business environment, as well as the relevant technology and talent policy support available at both autonomous region and city levels.

The innovation center will focus on the research and development of key technologies and equipment such as high-purity crystalline silicon, silicon nitride and zirconia advanced structural functional ceramics for semiconductors.

It will bring together resources such as scientific and technological R&D platforms, projects, and talent teams to develop a highly integrated national silicon-based new material technology innovation center with a global influence.
