A slew of mainly 30 modern energy projects – worth 68.3 billion yuan ($10.53 billion) – were signed at the first Modern Energy Industry Development Conference which took place on April 28 in Baotou city, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The conference had as its theme, the Energy Revolution under the Goal of Achieving Peak Carbon Dioxide Emissions and Carbon Neutrality.
The event invited experts and scholars from the energy field, heads of research institutions and leading new energy companies to discuss the development of modern energy.
At the 75th United Nations General Assembly in September 2020, China solemnly promised that its carbon dioxide emissions would reach a peak by 2030 and it would strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
With 2021 being the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), it is also a critical period for the implementation of the carbon peak and carbon neutral goals.
The first Modern Energy Industry Development Conference attracted the attention of all sectors of society. More than 30 domestic mainstream media and social platforms simultaneously broadcast the proceedings live.
