The city of Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is planning the construction of four new "pocket parks" in 2021 in a bid to add more greenery to the city, according to local media reports.
A "pocket park" is a new concept that has evolved in recent years. They are generally created using spare urban green space, idle land or urban micro-spaces. Experts typically define these parks as small-scale public spaces that have a certain functional flexible use.
The pocket parks to be built in Baotou will be built in small open spaces around residential areas, or even reconstructed from an old community.
