N China's Baotou promotes afforestation

Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been making strides in adding greenery and afforestation, with goals set for the current year, according to local media reports.

In 2021, 12,500 mu (833 hectares) of greenery area will be added to key areas in Baotou city, and 155,000 mu of green areas will be upgraded, focusing on the southern slope of Daqing Mountain, along the highways, surrounding towns and villages.

The city is to build 32 autonomous regions level demonstration villages and one demonstration county (district) for greenery in this year.

New green areas, landscape forests, and wooden plank roads will be added to the Hondlon and Qingshan districts on the southern slope of Daqing Mountain for leisure and sightseeing.

Up to now, 12,500 mu of afforestation in key areas have been completed, and 151,000 mu have been upgraded.
