Liu Dongmei starts off skillfully fashioning a piece. As an expert in cloisonne work, a traditional handicraft technique that is also Chinese intangible cultural heritage, she is playing a part in its future. Lui has helped more than 1,000 people in Baotou city – in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – to earn a living by making cloisonne pieces, ensuring that the traditional handicraft technique will be passed on for generations to come.
