Baotou promotes construction of regional innovation center
Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been making strides in the construction of a regional innovation center, a goal to be completed during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) as explained in the city's government work report.
The regional innovation center will be built as part of the city's ambitious goal to become the nation's technological innovation hub for rare earth and new materials, and to be a focal point for innovation in West China.
As a major industrial city in Inner Mongolia, Baotou has a complete industrial system and laid a solid foundation for manufacturing enterprises.
In recent years, the city has signed comprehensive cooperation agreements with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, and China Agricultural University, and has established a total of 30 university-industry collaborations with well-known universities and research institutes.
At the autonomous region's science and technology cooperation promotion conference, Baotou city signed 68 project agreements, ranking first in the autonomous region.
Baotou continued to improve its innovation and entrepreneurship policies and drafted several policies and measures related to the construction of a regional innovation center.
The measures mainly include strengthening the support of industrial science and technology, promoting the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, strengthening cooperation and opening-up, and promoting the introduction and cultivation of talent.
Baotou formulated the Baotou Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Carrier Management and Support Measures to strengthen the identification and assessment of incubation carriers to build a complete innovation and entrepreneurship incubation service system.
