Baotou pushes forward smart city construction

Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been making strides in smart city construction, according to local media reports. 

Since last year, the city has been vigorously promoting the digitalization as well as high-quality, green, and smart development of traditional industries, and the construction of an industrial digital platform has begun to take shape. 

Inner Mongolia First Machinery Group has created a number of key technologies such as 3D process design and virtual reality simulation and has been approved as a State-level key laboratory for intelligent manufacturing. 

Bayan Iron Mine became the first smart mine to operate in the autonomous region. 

In addition, Beiben Trucks Group Co completed the test run of its unmanned mining vehicle, setting a precedent for the research and development of intelligent mining vehicles in the autonomous region. 

Baotou has continued to increase investment in digital enterprises, and the scale of the digital industry has continued to grow. 

In addition, Sugon Baotou Cloud Computing Center and Shiguai District Big Data Application Center have been put into commercial operation, with Sugon Baotou Cloud Computing Center having carried out 129 applications from 94 government agencies and companies in the city. 

From January to October 2021, the information industry business revenue in Baotou reached a record-high 29.54 billion yuan ($4.64 billion), a year-on-year increase of 152.34 percent.
