Inner Mongolia's GDP tops 2 trillion yuan in 2021
The GDP of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region topped 2 trillion yuan ($300.08 billion) to reach 2,051 billion yuan last year and broke a record.
The added value of the region's primary industry in 2021 was 222.52 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.8 percent. Meanwhile, the added value of the secondary industry came in at 937.42 billion yuan, up 6.1 percent, while the tertiary industry hit 891.48 billion yuan, up 6.7 percent year-on-year.
The economic performance of Inner Mongolia last year mainly showed the following characteristics:
Grain output reaches new high, agricultural and livestock supplies are guaranteed.
Inner Mongolia's annual grain output reached 38.41 billion kilograms, with the sector reporting the latest in 18 consecutive bumper annual harvests. Production of cattle, sheep, poultry and pig meat was 2.70 million metric tons and the output of milk reached 6.73 million tons.
Industrial production runs smoothly.
In 2021, the added value of industries above a designated size increased by 6.0 percent on the previous year. Among the 37 major industrial sectors, 31 industries achieved growth in added value.
From January to November 2021, the total profits of manufacturers above a designated size – those with annual sales of 20 million yuan or more – topped 300 billion yuan, achieving substantial growth.
Service sector recovers steadily, investment growth picks up.
In 2021, the added value of the service sector accounted for 43.5 percent of regional GDP and contributed 51.7 percent to Inner Mongolia’s economic growth.
During the period, fixed asset investment increased by 9.8 percent on the previous year. Investment in the primary industry rose by 2.4 percent, while that of the secondary industry and tertiary industry was ahead by 21.1 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively.
Consumer market recovers, residents' incomes grow rapidly.
In 2021, total retail sales of consumer goods reached 506.03 billion yuan, a 6.3 percent gain on the previous year, returning to levels before the novel coronavirus epidemic.
In 2021, the per capita disposable income of all residents in the region was 34,108 yuan, an increase of 8.3 percent.
Of that, per capita disposable income of permanent urban residents was 44,377 yuan, up 7.3 percent, while per capita disposable income of rural and pastoral residents was 18,337 yuan, up 10.7 percent.
