Five Inner Mongolia athletes to compete in Beijing Winter Olympics
Five athletes from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region will represent China in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which are scheduled to be held on Feb 4-20.
The athletes are Han Mei, Fan Duoyao, Zhao Dan, Chu Yuanmeng and Ding Yuhuan.
Speed skater Han Mei will take part in four events: 1,500m, 3,000m, 5,000m and team pursuit.
Han Mei won fifth place in the women's team pursuit at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Since November 2021, she has participated in four World Cup speed skating competitions in the United States, Poland and other places, breaking national records for the 1500m and 3000m three times.
Bobsledder Fan Duoyao will compete in the men's single and team competitions at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Fan is currently ranked 43rd in the world and first in China.
He won 17th place in the men's single event of the 2021-2022 Bobsleigh National Cup, and successfully qualified for the World Cup Yanqing Station.
Snowmobile athlete Zhao Dan will represent China in the women's singles competition at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Zhao was born in 2002 and is currently ranked 37th in the world. As the youngest athlete on the Chinese national team, she won seventh place in the women's individual event of the Winter Youth Olympic Games and was champion of the Intercontinental Cup in Innsbruck, Austria.
The other two athletes, Chu Yuanmeng and Ding Yuhuan, are both biathletes. They have confirmed their participation in the Women's 15km individual and women's 4x6km relay at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Chu won the championship in the pulley and shot women's 4×6km relay at the 14th National Winter Games, while Ding was the runner-up.
