Baotou city hosts annual people's congress

The first session of the 16th Baotou Municipal People's Congress opened on Feb 12 in Baotou city, located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, local media reported.

According to the government work report delivered during the session, Baotou got top marks for its economic and social achievements in 2021, with GDP hitting 329.3 billion yuan ($51.87 billion), an increase of 8.5 percent over the previous year.

The added value of the city's industries above a designated size increased by 14.1 percent year-on-year, with an average growth of 12.5 percent over two years.

Development goals for 2022 were subsequently put forward in the government work report.

In the current year, Baotou is projected to achieve 8 percent growth in regional GDP, 12 percent growth in the added value of industries above a designated size and 15 percent growth in fixed asset investment.

In addition, the income of urban and rural residents is expected to keep pace with regional economic growth.
