All the banners, counties and districts under the jurisdiction of Baotou city – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – were said to be continuing to sustain good momentum in their economic development at the start of 2022.
The Hondlon district of Baotou, for one, signed a supply order worth 4.5 billion yuan ($712.97 million) with silicon energy, semiconductors and composite material companies. This is expected to fill the supply gap in Inner Mongolia for Monocrystalline silicon, the material used to make semiconductors.
This round of cooperation is expected to help build a complete industry supply chain – from silicon materials to solar terminal modules – and realize the integration of upstream and downstream players in the photovoltaic sector.
Elsewhere, Tumd Right Banner organized four investment presentations, connected with 11 business enterprises and successfully negotiated a number of major projects – such as a proposed hydrogen energy storage demonstration base.
It signed a military-civilian dual-use battery production project – with a total investment of 12 billion yuan – and a photovoltaic hydrogen production energy storage project costing 1.52 billion yuan.
Major projects raced against time to make progress and key enterprises are understood to have stepped up their production. In addition, Baotou guided enterprises to implement COVID-19 prevention requirements, to minimize the impact of the epidemic on enterprises.
