Scientific research is an important function of modern universities and the fundamental embodiment of the core competitiveness of disciplines. Baotou Medical College – located in Baotou city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – adheres to the strategic goal of creating a regional first-class medical college, as well as a high-level regional medical and research center.

The college has provided high-quality scientific research platforms for students and teachers in the past four years and has added 11 autonomous region-level scientific and technological innovation platforms.

The college has added five academician and expert workstations, established 30 school-level scientific research and innovation teams and built the Baotou Medical College Translational Medicine Center.

A number of universities-affiliated research institutes have been identified as key laboratories or engineering research centers of Inner Mongolia. The construction of the school innovation system has provided the basic conditions and technical platform support for scientific research innovation.

Additionally, the college has also provided financial support for technological innovation. It invested more than 60 million yuan ($9.49 million) in special funds for the construction of a public service platform for scientific research and innovation. It also jointly established a funding project with the Inner Mongolia Natural Science Foundation.

Moving forwards, the college will be committed to achieving breakthrough results in discipline construction, development of degrees, scientific research projects, scientific research achievements, innovative teams, conditional platforms construction, and cooperation and exchanges.
