The National Development and Reform Commission recently arranged for an investment of 176 million yuan ($27.64 million) from the central budget to support three cultural protection, inheritance and utilization projects in the city of Baotou – in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

This was in order to effectively protect the Yellow River culture and cultural heritage in Baotou.

Among the ventures, the Baotou Yellow River Wetland National Cultural Park construction project received 80 million yuan, the Qin Dynasty Great Wall National Cultural Park construction project received 80 million yuan and the Baotou folk art forms intangible cultural heritage construction project received 16 million yuan.

It is understood that the budget investment plan focuses on accelerating the comprehensive construction of national cultural parks, promoting the protection of key cultural relics and the level of archaeological excavation.

The construction of national cultural parks is a major cultural project in China, to promote the prosperity and development of culture. It is expected this will improve the system of nature reserves with national parks as the main body, as well as promote the improvement of tourism infrastructure in key scenic spots.

Moving forwards, plans are for the Baotou municipal development and reform commission to strengthen the implementation of the project. This is expected to ensure the completion of high-quality cultural tourism projects, to better meet the cultural needs of residents.
