The Baotou Landscaping Development Center – located in Baotou city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – will continue its green and eco-friendly landscaping program this year, to make the city more livable, business-friendly and tourist-friendly.
By the end of 2021, the city had built 109 parks and squares of various types and 67 parks and squares with more than 10,000 square meters in the city's five districts. The green spaces in the built-up area reached 84.89 million sq m and the green coverage area reached 94.61 million sq m.
This year, the landscaping development center will go ahead with nine new and continuing landscaping projects to improve the total amount of urban greening, the quality of greening and the green space carbon sink capacity.
The center will carry out the restoration of the retaining wall in the lake area of the city's Olympic Park and establish a charming landscape using flower borders. It will also upgrade the soccer field, basketball court, tennis court and other sports venues in the park.
The center will continue to install smart public toilets this year. Functions, such as information displays of vacant cubicles and automatic deodorization will be upgraded.
A green landscaping program will be completed. From mid to late March, the center – in conjunction with the district-level greening department – started the conservation of exposed loess in urban green areas. Meanwhile, landscaping along the railways and highways, the greening and upgrading of both sides of the 110 National Road and the 210 National Road are being advanced.
