In the new vegetable cold chain processing plant – with a floor space of over 1,600 square meters, operated by Inner Mongolia Shejianguanjia Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co – the staff members were recently hard at it, packing the produce.
It is then transported to the local markets in Baotou city, located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
As the operator of an eco-friendly and efficient agricultural industrialization demonstration base, the company is busy focusing on developing its orderbooks for organic agricultural products.
With the growing popularity of healthy eating in China, fresh disinfected vegetable processing has received extensive attention. This year, the company is preparing to add a refined service called "fresh disinfected vegetables processing + cold chain distribution".
The term fresh disinfected vegetables refers to vegetables that are freshly picked after sorting – following the removal of inedible and rotten parts, followed by washing, sterilizing and other processing – that can be directly eaten or used for cooking.
The vegetable processing and cold chain logistics distribution project being implemented by the company is projected to have an annual vegetable processing capacity of 800 metric tons.
By extending the supply chain, it is predicted that the added value of agricultural products will be increased by 10-20 percent. In addition, the precision processing will increase the utilization rate of vegetables by 5-10 percent and farmers' incomes will increase by an average five percent per annum.
"We look forward to realizing the organic unity of social, economic and environmental benefits," said Guo Yongqiang, general manager of the company.
