Among the 20 cities recently recognized by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2021 for the adjustment and transformation of old industrial bases, Baotou was the only city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Baotou is currently pursuing high-quality development while prioritizing the environment and low carbon emissions.
In the steel industry, Baotou is focusing on the development of new special steel and end-use products widely used in automobiles, energy, high-speed railways and other fields, as well as the development of high value-added products such as stainless steel extension processing.
The city is building a circular economy model for the aluminum industry and building a demonstration area for the development of aluminum industrial clusters.
In terms of the equipment manufacturing industry, Baotou encourages enterprises to accelerate the pace of technological innovation and is the first in the country to build a cloud platform for network collaborative manufacturing, creating a new way to transform and upgrade traditional industries.
In 2021, Baotou implemented 76 industrial energy-saving technical transformation projects, taking the lead in implementing high-efficiency replacement projects for traditional industrial motors. In addition, 43 modern equipment manufacturing projects were accelerated and 26 products were selected as part of the first set of technical equipment, key components and new materials in the autonomous region. Furthermore, 106 enterprise intelligence and digital transformation projects were implemented.
