Jiuyuan district, as a rising urban center in Baotou city is working to strengthen its industries and improve its appearance.
High-quality industrial support is an essential ingredient for becoming an urban center. The Vanke Group Olympic Ice and Snow Center project, with a total investment of 600 million yuan ($89.84 million), is under construction in the district and is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
The project will consist of a 29,840-square-meter ski hall and a 9,200-sq-m professional ice rink, creating a comprehensive sports venue for the ice and snow industry that is open in all seasons and can host international B-level competitions.
The city is also working to create a clean, comfortable and livable urban environment to improve its reputation and attractiveness. In the next three years, Jiuyuan district will continue to speed up the transformation of its urban border villages.
The district will plan a batch of smart parking lots, improve the integrated internet of things network among urban public facilities, and accelerate the deployment of emerging infrastructure such as 5G base stations and new energy vehicle charging piles.
The well-being of the people is the most important part of a thriving urban center. In March this year, the district held an investment event for the city's first "15-minute convenient life circle" project – where most essential businesses are within a 15-minute walk from home.
The district will continue to improve living standards by focusing on education, medical services, and elderly care services.
