In the process of consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation and rural vitalization, Baotou is working toward new achievements and promoting a steady increase in incomes for farmers and herdsmen.

In recent years, Baotou has invested 280 million yuan ($41.68 million) in funds, implemented 135 industrial assistance projects, and rose 7,822 people out of poverty.

The city has arranged 1,392 public welfare jobs and transformed farmers and herdsmen into agricultural and animal husbandry industry workers who are skilled in facility agriculture, field planting, modern farming, agricultural machinery, plant protection, and animal epidemic prevention.

The "payment after diagnosis and treatment" settlement system has been continuously implemented in Baotou and the treatment rate for serious illnesses among the poor has reached 100 percent.

A variety of policies that benefit farmers and animal husbandry have been implemented in the city, and the city is steadily increasing pension benefits and minimum living allowances for farmers and herdsmen in accordance with policy requirements.

In addition, technical guidance has been carried out by Baotou more than 86,000 times, helping farmers and herdsmen produce high-quality agricultural and livestock products that are suitable for local production, adapt to market demand, and have relatively mature technologies – so as to achieve a steady increase in income.
