During the 31st National Urban Water Conservation Publicity Week from May 15 to 21, several enterprises in Baotou took the opportunity to put the concept of water conservation into practice.

China Huadian Co Inner Mongolia Energy Co Baotou Power Generation Branch is currently the largest power generation company in Baotou. Its annual production water consumption is about 10 million metric tons, while its output of electric energy and thermal energy can supply heating to an area of 10 million square meters in the city.

Since the end of 2008, all production water has used reclaimed water, and the whole plant has recycled all of its water and advanced treatment to achieve fully-reclaimed water power generation and zero discharge of waste water.

The company treats between 1,200 and 1,400 tons of wastewater every day, saves between 400,000 and 700,000 tons of water every year, and discharges zero wastewater.

Baotou Yili Dairy Co's water treatment system is equipped with three sets of sand water filtration systems to improve the efficiency of water preparation.

It is reported that the company recycles 150 tons of concentrated water every day, and the effluent efficiency of concentrated water reverse osmosis is 50 percent. After treatment, 75 tons of concentrated water is finally discharged, saving 27,375 tons of water every year.

In addition, the two companies held water-saving publicity activities during the publicity week to boost water-saving awareness among employees.
