Editor's notes: A leading import and export business in Baotou city and in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the Baogang Group signed purchase contracts with five leading international companies – Sweden's ABB, Siemens from Germany, Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Rio Tinto Iron Ore  and FMG from Australia – at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) in 2018, with a total value of 4.13 billion yuan ($618.33 million). Additionally, the group signed a large purchase order worth 2.76 billion yuan during the third expo.

Baotou Tongli Home Appliance Co also signed smart home appliance purchase contracts with Japan's Panasonic Home Appliances (China) Co and South Korea's Samsung (China) Investment Co at the first expo, worth $5.92 million.

In addition, in recent years, Baotou's Guyang county has actively participated in the expo. It has expanded its foreign commerce and business exchanges, as well as helped local companies Xibei Machinery Co, Longju Dairy Co and Haiming Furnace Co to expand their export business.

Over the past five years the China International Import Expo (CIIE) has gone from strength to strength, breaking new ground on every year it has been held. The CIIE has made landmark achievements in international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchange and open cooperation.
