Baotou Airport – located in Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – recently opened the city's first aviation science education demonstration base.
The airport has completed the development of research courses for kindergartens and primary schools. These mainly involve teaching the kids about such things as airport ground services, aviation safety knowledge, air traffic control practices and knowledge about fire and emergency rescues in flight areas.
Students can experience simulated aircraft flights, airport check-ins, security checks and other things that are conducted at Baotou Airport. They can watch aircraft take off and land, learn all about the aircraft entry and exit process and the functions of ground support facilities and equipment.
Moving forwards, under the guidance of the Baotou Municipal Association for Science and Technology, the airport will create digital science resources – such as youth research, aerospace science courses, science and technology education subject exploration and special science exhibitions.
It will seek to stimulate young people's enthusiasm for advocating science and exploring the unknown, as well as implement scenario-based and experiential learning – to guide the personalized development of students with innovative potential and help train aerospace talent.
