The aroma of roses can now be smelled when passing by the former ash slag dam near Baogang Group's factory. It is hard to imagine that this sea of roses was once a gray slag field.
The ash slag dam was originally a solid waste discharge point for the coal-fired boilers of Baogang Group. In 2014, Baogang Group Greening Co carried out the work of treating the ash slag dam, and a huge treatment project has kicked off since then.
Employees of the company covered the ash surface with soil and tried planting thorn roses. After years of efforts and experimentation, the project has finally succeeded, and the surrounding environment has been significantly improved.
So far, more than 152,000 square meters of roses have been successfully planted on the ash slag dam, contrasting sharply with the nearby steel plant.
