Baotou, located in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was included on the list of regions with incentives and support measures provided by the State Council on June 9.

This is due to the city's achievements in promoting stable industrial growth, promoting the development of advanced manufacturing clusters, implementing industrial base reengineering projects, and maintaining the basic proportion of the manufacturing industry.

In recent years, Baotou has created a number of industrial brands with domestic and foreign influence in the steel industry, aluminum industry, equipment manufacturing industry, and energy industry.

Last year, the city's annual gross domestic product increased by 8.5 percent, making it the fastest rising city among the country's top 100 cities in terms of economic aggregate; industrial added value increased by 14.1 percent and fixed asset investment increased by 26.6 percent; and 168 strategic emerging industries were implemented, with an investment of 31.6 billion yuan ($4.73 billion).

The city uses science and technology to empower its industry and is encouraging the top 20 enterprises in terms of total energy consumption to implement intelligent and digital transformation of production systems and energy-consuming systems.

This year, 472 enterprises above designated size and other leading enterprises in Baotou are carrying out industrial digital transformation and upgrading in a comprehensive manner, focusing on the selection and cultivation of 10 national or autonomous region-level intelligent manufacturing demonstration pilots.

Meanwhile, Baotou will strive to implement more than 130 technological transformation projects for enterprises valued at 5 million yuan and establish 50 national, autonomous and municipal industrial design centers.
