The Heruo Railway, whose rail supplies are produced by Baogang Group, was put into operation on June 16. So far, the 2,712-kilometer-long railway loop around the Taklimakan Desert – the world's second largest desert line – has officially completed. It is the world's first desert railway loop.
The Xinjiang railway network will also be further improved.
The 101,200-metric-ton rails used to build the railway are all provided by Baogang Group, located in Baotou city. Due to the geographical location and environmental constraints, the Heruo Railway is welded by 500-meter-long seamless steel rails, and on-site operation is extremely challenging.
Since the start of construction in December 2018, the group has produced rails according to the standards of producing 350 km/h high-speed rails and taking into consideration the geological, landform and climatic conditions along the railway. Quality tracking for the welding rail base has also been carried out to an impressive degree, and the quality of the products has been praised.
In recent years, Baogang Group has been strongly supporting national railway construction. All high-speed rails used in the Xinjiang section of the Lanxin Railway and the second double line of the Lanxin Railway, which was once the longest high-speed railway in the world, were provided by the group.
The excellent quality of Baotou steel rails has been proven once more by their ability to overcome the formidable natural environment, and the brand "Made by Baogang" has made headway in the construction of the railways in Northwest China.
