Traditional and emerging equipment manufacturing industries have boomed in the industrial city of Baotou – located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. 

The city has formed the most complete equipment manufacturing industrial system in the autonomous region.

More photovoltaic companies have been moving to the city which plans to further extend the photovoltaic industrial supply chain, attract solar power generation support industries and develop a complete industrial system. 

In terms of introducing and developing hydrogen energy applications, the city's Qingshan district has signed agreements with a number of leading enterprises to bring in projects covering fuel cell systems integration, battery and galvanic pile production, and hydrogenation equipment manufacturing.

As for broadening the nuclear energy applications industry, Baotou has supported the construction of the CNNC Northern Rongchuang Nuclear Industry Science and Technology Park and developed nuclear technology equipment manufacturing and technology application industries.

Elsewhere, the city is developing as a digital energy storage industry base. It plans to promote the completion of the construction of Shandong Yunchu New Energy Co and China Huadian Corp's digital energy storage battery production bases within the year.

Baotou has also mobilized top local enterprises to take the lead in expanding the manufacturing market.

Top equipment manufacturers in the city – Inner Mongolia First Machinery Group Co, Inner Mongolia North Heavy Industries Group Corp and Beiben Trucks Group Co – have promoted the move to digital transformation and upgrading. They have conducted key core technology research and comprehensively improved the city's industrial foundations and the modernization of its industrial supply chain, while seeking cooperation nationwide.
