Chinese group assists in Mongolian shantytown reconstruction
A groundbreaking ceremony for a shantytown reconstruction project in Mongolia to be constructed by China Second Metallurgical Group Co was held at the site of the community project in Ulaanbaatar, capital city of Mongolia, on June 26.
Guests of the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, Mongolian government leaders and Chinese government leaders attended the groundbreaking ceremony, both on-site and online.
At the ceremony, senior officials of the Mongolian project management agency announced the launch of the China-funded Mongolian shantytown reconstruction project.
A total of 1,008 apartments will be constructed in eight residential buildings, all of which will be finely decorated. The work will include underground garages, support equipment rooms, outdoor activity venues, community roads and landscaping, among other things. The total construction area is 93,954 square meters.
On completion, it is expected to improve the living conditions and living environment of the people of Ulaanbaatar, which will help further expand the urban development space of the city and enhance its urban service functions.
Liang Yujin, project manager of the Chinese contractors, said that by constructing the project, the group would strengthen its ties with the Mongolian project management agency.
Liang said the company would appoint a first-rate project management team to go all out – to ensure the smooth progress of the project, establish efficient epidemic prevention and control and create a demonstration and benchmark project for foreign aid projects.
