A total of 20,700 people were employed in Baotou in the first half of this year and the employment situation in the city remained generally stable.

Stabilizing enterprises

Baotou issued stabilizing rebates to enterprises that laid off no or few workers. By the end of June, 123 million yuan ($18.21 million) had been paid to 7,845 companies, benefiting 163,400 employees, and unemployment insurance rates were reduced in stages, reducing financial burdens on companies by 159 million yuan.

Recruiting online and offline

As of the end of June, the city had held 208 job fairs of various types, providing 111,000 job positions.

Baotou guaranteed employment, particularly for key enterprises and major projects in the city, such as Xinte Energy, Hongyuan New Materials, and Tongwei Polysilicon, and ensured the construction and development of key projects and key industries.

Promoting high-quality employment

Baotou implemented vocational skill improvement measures and carried out the evaluation and employment of chief technicians in an orderly manner. As of the end of June, 1,295 highly-skilled talents had been identified, and the city's skilled talent team continued to grow.
