The launch ceremony of the Jiuyuan District Solid Waste Comprehensive Utilization Academician Workstation and its demonstration base project were held in Jiuyuan Industrial Park in Baotou on Aug 21.

It has been reported that the workstation and demonstration base project are affiliated to Baotou Jiuyuan District Solid Waste Comprehensive Utilization Technology Co and are being jointly constructed by the Jiuyuan district government and Qingdao Grace Road Environmental Protection Co.

Total investment in the project amounts to 300 million yuan ($43.74 million), and it will cover an area of about 12 hectares, while the development and construction period is expected to last 12 months.

After completion, the base will be able to process about 3.6 million metric tons of solid waste annually and reduce carbon emissions by 13,320 tons. It will help improve resource utilization efficiency and environmental quality and promote a comprehensive green transformation in the economic and social development of Jiuyuan district.

Li Chenwei, deputy director of the Jiuyuan Industrial Park Management Committee, said that in addition to economic benefits, the project will also convert all general industrial solid waste in the park on-site.

Next, Jiuyuan Industrial Park will work to bring in high-quality environmental protection projects.
