North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is committed to creating Chinese cultural works and images of the Chinese nation. Baotou closely follows the policies of the autonomous region to preserve its history and culture.
The ancient city of Machi is located in Machi town, Jiuyuan district, Baotou, on the plain at the junction of the Daqing Mountain section and the Wula Mountain section of the Yin Mountains.
Dating back to Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), the ancient city was an important military city in northern China in ancient times.
The ancient city of Machi is composed of two diagonally connected southern and northern regions, with a circumference of more than 4,800 meters. The city walls are all rammed earth walls, and the existing height of the well-preserved wall section is still seven to eight meters.
In addition, there are a large number of tombs distributed near the ancient city of Machi. The tombs housed precious cultural relics such as yellow-glazed pottery bottles, copper Suzaku lanterns, and various figures and animal figurines, which were classic works of culture and art in ancient China.
The ancient city of Machi has transformed from an important frontier military town to an area boasting economic and cultural development and the integration of ethnic groups in the Yin Mountains. It is a historical manifestation of the diversity and unity of the Chinese nation.
