It has been reported that the construction and application level of the 5G network has become an important driving force for enhancing the comprehensive management capabilities of cities and promoting the development of urban informatization.

Since the end of 2018, Baotou has built the first 5G test base station at Baogang Group, and the first urban 5G test base station was built in the Baotou Rare Earth Industrial High-tech Development Zone in early 2019, and the 5G network construction has been gradually rolled out since then.

In the past three years, the construction speed of the city's 5G infrastructure and the coverage level of the 5G network have improved qualitatively.

So far, Baotou has built 700 5G base stations, with a total of 4,300 in the city. The number of 5G users in the city has reached 1.29 million, and there are 15 5G base stations per 10,000 people. All indicators are at the forefront of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The application scope of 5G networks in Baotou industrial scenarios has gradually expanded, driving the city's smart manufacturing and digital transformation. The city has created a batch of typical 5G-based demonstrations of network application, such as Baogang Group's artificial intelligence detection and 5G+ Smart Mine in Bayan Obo mining district.

In addition, the Baotou Rare Earth Industrial High-tech Development Zone, Qingshan Equipment Park, and Donghe Aluminum Industry Park have all achieved wide coverage of 5G networks, and some enterprises have achieved deep coverage of application scenarios, ensuring the construction of "smart parks".
