Baotou enters first square of national intellectual property construction
Hondlon district in Baotou was recently placed among the first batch of pilot counties for the development of strong national intellectual property counties by the State Intellectual Property Office and the Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Industrial Development Zone was named as part of the corresponding first batch of national pilot parks, indicating that Baotou has successfully entered the first phase of the development of national intellectual property rights.
According to the latest statistics in August 2022, the city has 25,056 authorized patents, a year-on-year increase of 24 percent and its total number of valid registered trademarks is 36,648, a year-on-year increase of 20.4 percent.
The city is also implementing a special plan for patent transformation, in which Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology has licensed two patented technologies to enterprises at a price of 3.5 million yuan ($504,586) and a price equal to 13 percent of the company's revenue per metric ton of products in the next 10 years, making it the highest-value transformation and application of patents for original achievements of scientific researchers in universities in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Next, Baotou will build a scientific system for intellectual property work that is in line with the city's economic development, and improve intellectual property governance capabilities.
