The China Association for Science and Technology recently announced the first batch of "Innovation China" innovation bases. Five units from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region were selected, one of which is located in Baotou.

The "Innovation China" innovation bases are cooperation carriers for the China Association for Science and Technology to promote the collaborative innovation of production, education and research and the practical application and sharing of scientific and technological achievements, and they are also platforms for the gathering of various "Innovation China" resources.

Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, located in Baotou, has been identified as the innovation base of the Grassland Livestock Intelligent Breeding Research and Development Center.

The university has now developed focuses on metallurgy, mining, coal, and rare earth. In the past five years, the university has undertaken 264 national-level scientific research projects such as national key research and development plans, national science and technology support plans, international cooperation projects, military projects, projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and projects of the National Social Science Fund.
