The 2022 China Baotou Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Video Sub-race – a preliminary round of the Baotou city competition – was held in the city of Ningbo, in East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 25.

A dozen high-quality projects staged roadshows and held talks with the municipal government and investment institutions at the event.

The projects included a smart city pipe network sensing solution, development and industrial applications for ultrasensitive heavy metal automatic online monitoring equipment and related applications and industrialization of metal nano powders. Nano powder products are used in high capacity, energy efficient batteries and fuel cells, among other things.

The Baotou competition was launched in May and three preliminary rounds have been held in the cities of Wuhan, Suzhou and Ningbo.

To date, the competition has attracted the participation of 103 projects in the fields of new energy, new materials, rare earth deep processing and other key areas. Among them were five national high-level talent team projects and 16 provincial talent team projects.

In the wake of the event, Baotou will probably move to sign investment intention agreements with eight to 10 projects, according to Jin Hui, chairman of Zhejiang Saichuang Weilai Venture Capital Management Co.

Zhejiang Saichuang Weilai is a platform focusing on creating high-level talent entrepreneurship and innovation services. In April, it signed a cooperation agreement with Baotou to set up an international talent science and innovation center in Hondlon district, to help the district recruit more people.
