Baotou transforms green industry
Five chimneys can be seen on a factory belonging to Baogang Group in Baotou, but no smoke is being discharged from them. That's because the four sets of equipment in operation in the workshop discharge zero waste gas.
"These four sets of equipment can recycle the waste gas generated in the production process to provide cooling, heating and power," said Zhao Yuanlong, energy director of the factory.
According to statistics, the annual net power generation of the whole waste heat energy station is 37.2 million kilowatt hours, reducing carbon emissions by more than 40,000 metric tons annually.
In recent years, through technological transformation, Baotou's traditional industries are able to conserve more energy, consume less and operate at a higher capacity, putting them on the path toward green development.
Baotou is home to seven green parks above the autonomous region level, three green supply chains, 38 green factories, and 73 green design products.
"The enterprise has focused on the development of intelligent driving, electric dump trucks, electric tractors and other new energy vehicles, enabling Beiben Trucks Group Co in Baotou, which has been producing fuel-driven heavy trucks for more than 30 years, to become more environmentally-friendly," said Zhang Xiaodong, deputy chief designer of the new energy business department.
"To date, the enterprise's new energy heavy trucks have been put into use in more than 40 iron and steel enterprises, with a total operating distance of more than 150 million kilometers," Zhang added.
