In order to boost market consumption and bolster the catering industry, Baotou recently proposed the creation of a "Baotou Cuisine Banquet".

Wang Xi, president of the Baotou Catering Association, said that "Baotou Cuisine Banquet" will be a gourmet feast reflecting the cultural characteristics of Baotou catering, and it will focus on promoting local catering brands and unique foods in the city.

"Baotou's catering industry has long been well-known in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and we have many catering brands that have opened chain stores in Hohhot as well as other provinces and cities, which is rare among catering brands in Inner Mongolia," Wang said.

Wang expressed hope that Baotou can build a "grassland hotpot capital". He said, "Hotpot is not unique to Baotou, but the method of boiling mutton without dipping in condiments was first used in Baotou and has since swept across the country.” 

He added that Baotou's hotpot can become popular throughout the country and the world relying on the sheep fed on grasslands. Therefore, the city relies on the industrialization and cluster development of grassland hotpot.
