Baotou to build complete industrial chain for photovoltaic equipment industry
Baotou has designated the crystalline silicon photovoltaic industry as a key industry in its 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) and has strived to build a complete industrial chain for photovoltaic equipment.
The city has focused on introducing leading enterprises in the industry and has introduced battery, modules and related supporting industries. The city has signed a 32-gigawatt battery project with Tongwei Group, a leading multinational corporation in green energy.
Risen Energy Co's 3 GW and Shuangliang Co's 5 GW modules have already been put into production in the city, which is expected to expand module production capacity.
In addition, the city has strengthened the attraction of related supporting industries. Suoer Group's photovoltaic glass has been introduced to reduce costs and improve product competitiveness for module production.
It is reported that at present, there are 12 key photovoltaic manufacturing enterprises that have been put into operation in Baotou. In addition, a number of projects under construction or proposed for construction focus on the fields of polysilicon, monocrystalline silicon, chips, and modules, among others.
By the end of the year, the city expects to achieve a production capacity of 300,000 metric tons of polysilicon, 133 GW of monocrystalline silicon, 46 GW of chips and 8 GW of modules, with an annual output value of more than 100 billion yuan ($14.34 billion).
Next, relying on the China Railway Express, the city will accelerate the construction of the photovoltaic equipment market along the railway, starting from the Western European market and seizing the market in Central and Eastern Europe.
