The Baotou municipal sports bureau recently released the top 10 pieces of sports-related news in Baotou in 2022.

Rebuild sports venues, equip them with sports equipment

The city has built basketball courts, badminton courts, table tennis courts and other sports venues in 30 urban parks.

Additionally, the city has built 30 kilometers of plastic fitness trails, 1,200-square meters of indoor skating rinks, and more than 3,700 intelligent exercise bikes and other pieces of fitness equipment in 252 communities.

In 2022, the bureau configured 30 portable automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in public stadiums, parks and squares throughout the city. At the same time, the city strengthened the first-aid training among staff members at the delivery points and improved the first-aid capabilities at public sports venues.

The 14th Baotou Sports Meeting was held from May to June last year, while the first Baotou Polo Open was held on Sep 13-17, 2022.

In addition, the National Men's Water Polo Championships and 100 fun games for residents were also held in the city.

Promote sports consumption

Baotou has promoted nationwide fitness and sports consumption. In 2022, residents received more than 50,000 sports coupons in total. The annual sales of sports lottery tickets reached 726 million yuan ($106.79 million), providing jobs to 1,400 people in 700 sales outlets.
