Baotou, a major city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has made efforts to build a new industrial development paradigm featuring high-quality, environmentally-friendly growth, local media reported.
While working to set up a green industrial manufacturing system, the city is striving to promote the coordinated development of green parks, green factories, green supply chains, and green products, and has tried to eliminate backward production capacity, transform and upgrade existing production capacity, transform energy-consuming mechanical and electrical equipment, and help enterprises improve their energy efficiency, striving to build a new model of green and high-quality industrial development.
In 2022, the added value of industries in Baotou increased by 19.6 percent year on year, ranking first in the autonomous region, while the energy consumption per unit of industrial added value decreased by 11.6 percent year on year, supporting the rapid growth of industrial economy with low energy consumption, official statistics indicated.
"In 2023, while vigorously developing strategic emerging industries, we will continue to promote green and intensified industrial development and modernization, as well as strive to realize the green and low-carbon transformation of the industrial structure and production model," said Bai Guosheng, deputy director of the Baotou bureau of industry and information technology.
At a new historic starting point, Bai said, Baotou will continue to aim for "peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality" and practice the concept of green development, make every effort to build an efficient, clean, low-carbon and circular industrial system, cultivate a new group of national and autonomous region-level green factories, and constantly explore the path of high-quality industrial development so as to contribute to the vitalization of Baotou.
