Shuangliang Silicon Materials (Baotou) Co, which mainly produces monocrystalline silicon products, is worth more than 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion) and was attracted by the Baotou municipal government in response to the national carbon peak and carbon neutralization strategy.
The company has become the main force behind the city's efforts to improve the city's photovoltaic industrial chain and become the "world's green silicon capital".
In 2021, the company was just getting started in the national photovoltaic industry. In February of that year, Shuangliang Group established Shuangliang Silicon Materials (Baotou) Co in Baotou, and invested 14 billion yuan to build a 40-gigawatt monocrystalline silicon project.

Sept 30, 2021 is a milestone day for Shuangliang Silicon Materials (Baotou) Co, as the 40 GW monocrystalline silicon phase one project was officially put into operation, with 560 monocrystalline silicon furnaces now operating.
The company has built a silicon material centralized control command center as well as an advanced remote control command platform.
The company has 3,296 industry-leading 1,600-single monocrystalline silicon furnaces that are digitally and intelligently managed, with a numerical control rate of more than 90 percent and an energy utilization rate of 30 percent.
"This year, our company will continue to expand the photovoltaic industrial chain and build a 20 GW high-efficiency photovoltaic module project," said Zhao Guoqiang, the company's production director.
