On Feb 23, an award ceremony for an aquatic wildlife rescue station at autonomous region-level was held in Zhengxiang Ocean Park in Baotou city, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Of note, this station is the first professional rescue agency for aquatic wildlife in Baotou.

The aquatic wildlife rescue station relies on the facilities, equipment and professional technical force of Baotou's Zhengxiang Ocean Park. Through this cooperation, the station is able to carry out professional rescues, and the temporary care and release of stranded, injured, trapped, mistakenly captured, legally confiscated or transferred aquatic wildlife.

Since it began operation in 2017, the ocean park has cooperated with relevant government departments to rescue and accept donations for 82 species of aquatic wildlife, and has successively won the titles of the "Baotou City Science Popularization Education Demonstration Base" and the "China Fisheries Association Science Popularization Education Base".

Next, the Baotou municipal bureau of agriculture and animal husbandry will use this rescue station as a carrier to encourage people to participate in the protection of aquatic wildlife, maintain biodiversity, as well as promote the harmonious coexistence of human and nature.
