A few days ago, Baotou issued a plan to improve the layout of its markets and street vendors in an effort to make the city more vibrant.

Under the plan, 39 markets will be set up in the city, including nine morning markets, nine night markets and 21 all-day markets.

In rural areas and public areas on the outskirts of the city, farmers and herdsmen, family farms, cooperatives run by farmers and herdsmen and other business entities will receive help to sell their own agricultural and related products.

Baotou will create characteristic demonstration sites on food streets, pedestrian streets and business circles. Priority will be given to setting up commercial stalls in key areas such as the landmark nightlife cluster area to create commercial blocks with a strong brand image. At present, five characteristic demonstration sites have been set up.

At the same time, different styles of management will be implemented in different areas. Bridges, pedestrian bridges, and underpasses, in particular, will be off limits to street vendors.
