Mandula Port's shipment volume increases

Updated: 2023-05-05

The shipment volume of Mandula Port in Baotou reached 1.12 million metric tons in the first quarter of 2023, up 396 percent year-on-year, while its import and export freight volume exceeded the same period in 2022.

"Since last year, our company has been facing various pressures, but the import volume has continued to grow thanks to convenient customs clearance services issued by Baotou Customs," said the head of port business at Inner Mongolia Yuanbei International Trade Co.

Since last year, Baotou Customs has continuously optimized the containing lifting operation mode and compressed five operation links. It has increased the static coal storage capacity by 150,000 tons to solve the problem of insufficient storage space at the port, as well as promoted the "zero tarrif" policy for coal imports. It has also implemented facilitation measures, such as pre-appointment services for customs clearance and centralized inspection, resulting in a steady increase in port shipments.

In August last year, the import of mineral products at the port exceeded 400,000 tons for the first time. In March this year, it exceeded 500,000 tons, which was the highest monthly record of imported goods since the port was opened.
