Training course helps preserve Baotou paper-cutting
A one-week "Baotou paper-cutting" practical course opened at the Donghe district cultural center, Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on May 22, which will further expand the popularity and influence of this national intangible cultural heritage project.
The training course, launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has over 40 paper-cutting-related inheritors and practitioners participating.
The practical course, led by one national and one regional-level inheritor, will teach students the historical and cultural background, style, characteristics, and techniques of Baotou paper-cutting.
Currently, Baotou paper-cutting has a three-generation preservation team consisting of two national-level, nine regional-level, and 39 city-level inheritors.
