Sci-tech small institute in Baotou service for rural development
The Tumd Right Banner Ganluzi Sci-tech Small Institute this spring imported germplasm resources from 13 regions, including Gansu and Chongqing. Currently, seedlings at the 50-mu (3.33 hectares) planting demonstration area have broken ground.
Opposite the demonstration area, the renovation of a 7,800-square-metre factory is underway and is projected to be completed by mid-June, as well as applicant for food processing permits.
Teachers and students of the agricultural colleges and universities in Baotou have been stationed at the production line for extended periods of time to explore and uncover new channels of demonstration, promotion and transformation of agricultural sci-tech achievements, as well as new ways of training professional personnel and new farmers.
Huang Huan, a member of the sci-tech small institute, said, "We developed salty and Russian pickle flavors for pickles. "For those vegetables with an unattractive appearance that could not develop pickles, we extracted their active ingredient to develop flavored drinks to increase the added value of our products."
Sun Wenxiu, a professor at the College of Food Science and Engineering at Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, said, "The small institute not only solves the problem of farmers' planting yield, but also deeply processes agricultural products through food processing technology, thus opening up an industrial chain."
