Walking into the project site of integrated mushroom planting and sales in Xinshuguang village, Shiguai district of Baotou, fresh and plump oyster mushrooms can be seen growing from both ends of neatly placed fungus sticks.

Local people have been busy packing up these newly picked mushrooms, which will be sold outside the village.

These fungus sticks can reportedly produce 600 mushrooms a day during the delivery period, which is expected to generate an annual income of more than 200,000 yuan ($28,128).

However, this project is only a part of the village's overall efforts to promote rural vitalization.

This year, after helping its representatives learn advanced experiences in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, the village quickly promoted the Lyuxinyuan Cooperative project, in which the local Party branch leads the cooperative to develop various industries. The opening ceremony of the cooperative was held in May.

According to Wen Kuan, secretary of the Party branch, the village was greatly impoverished just a few years ago. With the continuous issuance and implementation of government policies to benefit residents, however, the collective's income jumped from 50,000 yuan in 2018 to 1.2 million yuan in 2022.

Some 159 villagers have now raised 920,000 yuan and the village collective has pooled together 280,000 yuan to buy shares in the village's corn planting, mushroom planting, agricultural processing, agricultural machinery services, and other projects.
