A smart agriculture demonstration project has recently been launched in a village in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner, Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The project is a collaboration between Inner Mongolia's Wengong Xiangqing Ecological Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co and the banner. It is scheduled to be in operation for three to five years.
The village in Baotou promises to use smart unmanned agricultural machines to create a crop planting model for farming. The scheme is a "company + farmer" collaboration, where farmers in the community are set to receive a second dividend in autumn on top of their land rental fee.
The project is expected to plant 7,000 mu (466.7 hectares) of quinoa in a land area of nearly 20,000 mu.
In addition, the banner is moving towards larger-scale production and plans to promote smart agriculture in the region, to reach the goal of 100,000 mu in three years.
